Welcome to the NUTRI-CHECK NET platform!

About the NUTRI-CHECK NET project

The aim of the NUTRI-CHECK NET project is to establish a self-sustaining, multi-actor, thematic network which will improve the precision of crop nutrition across Europe by compiling nutrition decision tools, promoting farm-by-farm nutrient checking, and facilitating knowledge exchange amongst all relevant stakeholders.
The project has developed a 3-step checking approach to nutrition management of (1) Plan; (2) Check and adjust and (3) review:

Nutrition is cropping’s biggest expense to farmers and to the world. So, it must be …
•    Planned, but few crops grow to plan. So then …
•    Checked during growth and Adjusted if necessary. Then …
•    Reviewed at final harvest to know the outcomes and to learn.

Across nine European countries, the NUTRI-CHECK NET project partners have collated information on three key topics, summarised in this platform to help farmers, advisors and researchers to test, adapt and develop this approach to meet their needs:
-    Recommendation systems for Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K) have been summarised  to provide an overview of nutrient management processes across several European countries.
-    Tools and services available to farmers and advisors have been catalogued to facilitate the use of each phase of the three step approach.
-    Relevant research projects have been identified  to provide evidence to supporting current recommendation systems and various nutrient management methodologies, which in turn provides scientific evidence to support tools.

All of these items are available for anyone to view and access within the platform – just follow the links above or select the relevant section on the webpage headers.

Who is this platform for?

This platform is designed to help farmers, agronomists, researchers and the wider agricultural industry share knowledge and learn about the range of possible nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) nutrient management approaches available for wheat, maize and potato across Europe.

What is included?

There are three inventories available containing details on Recommendation Systems, Research Projects and Tools and Services relating to NPK nutrient management in Europe.
Please note the platform only covers nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), wheat maize and potato – some recommendation systems, tools or services may also be used for other nutrients and crops but these are not summarised in this platform.

How to use the Platform

Visit the inventories using the menu of the platform, and explore the entries you find. Narrow down your results by entering your search in the search bar, or by using the various filters. You may also use the comparison feature to compare entries side-by-side.
