During cultivation, weather conditions can be highly favorable for growth, allowing the plant to fully utilize the effects of fertilizers and soil mineralization. This can be measured in the petioles. On the other hand, rain or even extreme precipitation can cause the nitrogen levels in the soil to drop significantly. In such cases, this becomes visible in the petioles within a few days. The goal of petiole analysis is to determine the crop's need for fertilization and irrigation by examining the petioles. By sampling petioles and having them analyzed for nitrogen and possibly other minerals, you gain more insight into the crop's nutrient requirements. Normec Groen Agro Control has calibration curves for various crop varieties and soil types for nitrogen fertilization, ensuring an appropriate fertilization recommendation. Are you interested in the concentrations of more elements in the petioles? Target values for these are still not fully established. However, we can also measure the elements K, Na, Ca, Mg, PO4, and trace elements Fe, Mn, Zn, B, Mo, and Cu in the petioles.
