Appi-N

Free

The APPI-N method is based on real-time monitoring of wheat nutrition and the triggering of topdressing N applications when conditions are favourable for a good N use efficiency. It was designed to overcome the limitations of the forecast balance method, which is widely used in France
The method does not take into account two pillars of the balance sheet method: the yield target and the measurement of soil mineral N at the end of winter. It is rather based on dynamic reasoning throughout the crop cycle, based on monitoring an indicator (nitrogen nutrition index, NNI) and NNI trajectories, tolerating nitrogen deficiencies and aiming for high yields and grain protein levels, as well as low nitrogen losses
